That same year, as the "Cut Away" piece, I made this tryptic of my friend Sam. This guy also draws and paints. He's really into comics and is in the middle of making a graphic novel right now. The idea behind the picture is that he's starting in his hometown in Maine (he's younger, not by his features but because the time-of-day is morning), progressing to when he studied abroad in Japan (now it's noon), and then finally ending the day in his appartment in boston (ahh, sunset). For reference, I used my friend Matt G's apartment. I miss that guy. He lives in Vermont and is an awesome painter/illustrator!
